Potter's Wheel Level 1 Saturdays 11:00AM
11:00-1:00 Saturdays March 8th-April 12th
Service Description
Learn how to throw pottery on the wheel and make your own mugs, bowls, pots, plates, vases, and more! Glaze and keep up to 6 of your favorite pots. This small group class of 4 students will meet on 6 consecutive Saturdays for 2 hours of demonstrations, guided practice, independent practice, and clean-up. It is for beginners and anyone needing a refresher course. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty and please bring your own towel or apron because you’ll need it! The first 5 sessions are on the potter's wheel and cover the basics of throwing, including wedging, centering, opening, pulling, shaping, and reclaiming. The 6th session introduces glazing. Students may select from our collection of over 75 glazes! Glazing may be completed during Open Studio sessions. All glazing must be completed within 30 days of the 6th session. Missed sessions may not be rescheduled or refunded, but 2 hours of practice time on the wheel may be reserved if the schedule allows. This package includes clay, tools, open studio, glaze, bisque fire, and glaze fire. All clay and glazes are nontoxic stoneware, so they are safe for food, the microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Additional practice time may be added on by reserving the wheel during a 90 minute Open Wheel session for $40. Level 1 may be repeated. Students who complete Level 1 are eligible to move on to Level 2. Upon completion of any level, students are eligible to participate in our quarterly art exhibition and sale! Students who complete levels 1, 2, and 3 are eligible to participate in our Level 4 Emerging Artist Program!
