Service Description

Want to take a spin on the potter's wheel without the classroom structure? The Potter's Wheel Pass is for you! This is an independent, self-directed option that does not include in-person tutorials or demonstrations. Jamie will be present in the studio, but will not be available for teaching. Instead, written directions for basic steps and procedures will be provided. WHAT'S INCLUDED: ONE POUND OF CLAY! One pound of stoneware clay will be provided. You may purchase more clay in the studio for larger pots at the rate of $6 per pound. The cost of additional clay includes the cost of additional glaze, larger shelf storage, and larger kiln space required for 2 firings. Wheel projects must be limited to no more than 4 pounds until further notice. Leftover clay will be recycled. TIME! Two full hours on the wheel. Potters are responsible for clean-up. You may schedule time within the following week to trim and make attachments if desired. TOOLS! Access to a large variety of tools, texture rollers, and stencils. GLAZE! Access to 20 underglaze colors! Our underglazes are similar to acrylic paint; you can mix and blend them to achieve the results you desire. Once fired with a clear glaze finish, they are completely safe for food, the dishwasher, microwave, and oven. 2 KILN FIRINGS! After your project has fully dried (2 weeks), we will bisque-fire it, dip it in clear glaze, and glaze-fire it for you. Projects will be ready for take-home approximately 3-4 weeks after they're made. Check our social media posts to see if yours is ready! NOTE: The potter's wheel is difficult and not recommended for anyone without experience. If you have never learned to throw on the potter's wheel, classes are highly recommended. Consider signing up for the Potter's Wheel Experience or a 6 week Potter's Wheel class. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you'd like to schedule for a group of 2 to 5 guests, please text Jamie (805) 630-5685. Bring a towel! It's time to get your hands in clay and make something you'll love!
