Service Description

This class is recommended for ages 12 and up due to requirements of height, strength, & complex direction-following. NOTE: Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty and please bring your own standard bath towel or apron. Learn how to throw pottery on the wheel and make your own cups, bowls, pots, vases, and more! Glaze and keep up to 10 of your favorite pots. This small group class of 5 students will meet on 6 consecutive Saturdays for 2 hours of demonstrations, guided practice, independent practice, and clean-up. It is for beginners and anyone needing a refresher course. The first 5 sessions are on the potter's wheel and cover the basics of throwing, including wedging, centering, opening, pulling, shaping, and managing greenware. The 6th session introduces glazing. Students may select from our collection of over 100 glazes! Glazing may be completed during Open Studio sessions. All glazing must be completed within 30 days of the 6th session. Missed sessions may not be rescheduled or refunded, but 2 hours of practice time on the wheel may be reserved if the schedule allows. GREENWARE DEADLINE: 7-10 days after making GLAZING DEADLINE: 12/20/26 PICK-UP DEADLINE: 1/5/27 This package includes clay, tools, open studio, glaze, bisque fire, and glaze fire. All clay is stoneware, which is safe for food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Most glazes are food safe, but a small selection are not, so guidance will be provided when glazing. Additional wheel time may be added on by reserving the wheel during a 2 hour Potter's Wheel Pass session for $40 (includes 1 pound of clay). Additional clay may be purchased for $4 per pound. The cost of additional clay includes the cost of additional glaze, larger shelf storage, and larger kiln space required for 2 firings. Handles are taught in Level 2. However, students may schedule a 30 minute handle shaping and attaching session for an additional $10 per person. Trimming is taught in Level 2. However, students may schedule a 30 minute trimming lesson for an additional $10 per person. Level 1 may be repeated. Students who complete Level 1 are eligible to move on to Level 2. Upon completion of any level, students may participate in our pottery sales, and all students are eligible to join our Membership Studio! Refunds for cancellations within 1 week of the first session will be limited to $150 unless we can fill your seat. This includes gift certificate value.

Thank you for booking with Sandpoint Ceramics! We look forward to creating with you! Please review the cancellation and rescheduling policy listed in the description of the class, course, or workshop you booked. Because we offer a wide variety of classes, courses, and workshops, our cancellation and rescheduling policies vary depending on the type of event. Some offerings have no specific cancellation restrictions, while others have deadlines that determine eligibility for full refunds, partial refunds, or rescheduling credits. Certain classes may not allow refunds or credits for missed sessions. Important Information: Cancellation deadlines: Refund and rescheduling eligibility depend on the specific policy for your booked class or event. Gift certificates: Bookings made with gift certificates are subject to the same cancellation and rescheduling restrictions as other payment methods. Missed classes: Missed sessions may not be eligible for refunds, credits, or make-up opportunities, depending on the class. Limited availability: Because class sizes are limited and instructors and materials are scheduled in advance, last-minute cancellations can prevent other customers from participating.
