Service Description

This is not a class. Includes clay, tools, glaze, & kiln firings. Prior experience required. Text Jamie to schedule (805) 630-5685. Cash or credit card payment will be made in person. Have a pinch, coil, slab, or sculpture project in mind that you want to make without the classroom structure? The Handbuilder's Pass is for you! This is an independent, self-directed option that does not include in-person tutorials or demonstrations. Jamie will be present in the studio, but will not be available for teaching. Instead, written directions for basic handbuilding practices and studio procedures will be provided. WHAT'S INCLUDED: 1/2 POUND OF CLAY! One half pound of stoneware clay will be provided. You may purchase more clay in the studio at the rate of $3 per half pound. The cost of additional clay includes the cost of additional glaze, larger shelf storage, and larger kiln space required for 2 firings. Projects must be limited to no more than 4 pounds until further notice. TIME! Most Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are open, but we may also have availability on some Wednesdays and Thursdays. Text Jamie (805) 630-5685 to schedule the time that works for you! Open studio hours are available within one week to add finishing surface details and glaze if desired. TOOLS! Access to a large variety of tools, a slab roller, texture rollers, and stencils. You are responsible for cleaning up your tools and workspace. GLAZE! Access to 20 underglaze colors! Our underglazes are similar to acrylic paint; you can mix and blend them to achieve the results you desire. Once fired with a clear glaze finish, they are completely safe for food, the dishwasher, microwave, and oven. The rest of our mid-fire glazes are available to anyone who has taken at least one class in our studio and is familiar with our glazes and process. 2 KILN FIRINGS! After your project has fully dried (2 weeks), we will bisque-fire it, dip it in clear glaze, and glaze-fire it for you. Projects will be ready for take-home approximately 3 weeks after they're made. Check our social media posts to see if yours is ready! Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times (unless they have already taken a handbuilding class in our studio and are 10 or older). If you are interested in throwing on the potter's wheel, check out the Potter's Wheel Pass! Wear clothes that can get dirty! It's time to get your hands in clay and make something you'll love!
