Handbuilding Level 2 Ages 12 - Adult

Service Description

Build upon the skills learned in Handbuilding Level 1 to create more complex and dynamic projects including a double pinch-pot sculpture, slab box, and relief wall tiles. Recommended for ages 12 and older. Level 2 Handbuilding is a 6-week session that meets once weekly for 2 hours and includes unlimited Open Studio time for extended surface decoration. Students will apply the core handbuilding techniques previously learned in Level 1; pinch pots, hard slab, shaping, and attaching. Each project will be worked on for 2 sessions. Glazing is to be completed during Open Studio hours. All glazing must be completed within 30 days of the 6th session. Missed sessions may not be rescheduled or refunded. Instead, students may come in during Open Studio hours to create a project of their choice using skills they have already learned. Clay, tools, and glaze included. All clay is stoneware, so projects are safe for food, the microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Most glazes are safe for food, however, some are not, so guidance will be provided when glazing. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty and please bring your own hand towel!
