Service Description
Learn or improve your skills on the potter's wheel and make your own cups, bowls, pots, vases, and more! This small group class of 5 students will meet on 4 consecutive days for 2 1/2 hours of wheel time; demonstrations, guided practice, independent practice, and clean-up. It is for beginners and anyone needing a refresher on the wheel. Return in 3-4 weeks to begin glazing up to 10 of your favorite pots! THROWING The first 4 sessions (10 hours total) on the potter's wheel cover the basics of throwing, including wedging, centering, opening, pulling, and shaping. Unlimited Open Studio hours will be available for all greenware work. GLAZING Return in 3-4 weeks to learn glazing (sign up for one of our Glaze Days) and select from our collection of over 95 glazes! Glazing may be completed during unlimited Open Studio sessions. All glazing must be completed within 30 days of the glazing lesson. GLAZE DEADLINE: July 18th PICK-UP DEADLINE: August 8th This package includes clay, tools, instruction, unlimited open studio, glaze, bisque fire, and glaze fire. All clay is stoneware, which is safe for food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Most glazes are food safe, but a small selection are not, so guidance will be provided. Missed sessions may not be rescheduled or refunded, but 2 1/2 hours of practice time on the wheel may be reserved at no charge. HANDLES - (taught in Level 2) Students may schedule a 30 minute lesson to learn how to make and attach a handle or other 3 dimensional features for an additional $10 per person. TRIMMING - (taught in Level 2) Students may schedule a 30 minute trimming lesson for an additional $10 per person. Boot Camp may be repeated. Students who complete Boot Camp are eligible for future registration in Levels 1, 2, & 3 and may participate in our Level 4 Emerging Artist Program-- sell your work in our studio inside the iconic Cedar Street Bridge! This class also serves as a prerequisite for our Member's Studio! Recommended for ages 12 and up. Students must be able to reach the pedal, follow directions well, work and clean up independently. NOTE: Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty and please bring your own towel because you’ll need it!
