Service Description

WHAT IS SGRAFFITO? Sgraffito is a decorative technique used in art where a surface layer—colored slip or underglaze—is applied over a clay body and then scratched or carved through to reveal the clay beneath. This creates contrasting designs, textures, and intricate patterns. The word comes from the Italian "sgraffiare", meaning "to scratch." BYOB! Bring your own beverage and join us for 2 hours of creativity in our vibrant studio! This is the perfect opportunity to get into the holiday spirit and make gifts and memories for yourself and loved ones! $30 registration includes up to 3 pre-made clay ornaments to custom paint and carve (one seat per registration). You may add more ornaments to your order on the day of the workshop for $5 each. Paint your ornaments choosing from a selection of 40 underglaze colors. Then free-hand your carving or choose from our selection of over 100 stencils. Children 10 and older may join if accompanied by a registered adult. Our staff will then dry, bisque-fire, clear-coat, then glaze fire each ornament. Ornaments will be ready for pick-up by December 21st. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty! Refunds for cancellations less than 24 hours from the scheduled event will not be issued.
