Service Description

Join Blake of Key & Kiln on the potter's wheel! Push your wheel skills further in this intermediate/advanced level class and learn to throw taller, thinner and more balanced pieces! This class is for experienced throwers who want to push their forms upward without losing control. You'll work on the skills that make tall, slender pieces possible: efficient centering, even wall compression, precise pulling, and smart use of tools and support. We'll cover how to prepare and setup to pull, how to get the most out of your base and how to shape a clean, confident piece at taller heights. Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable centering 2–4 lbs of clay, pulling consistent walls, and working independently on the wheel. This is not a beginner class. Meet in the Sandpoint Ceramics Community Clay Studio (suite 206). Non-members will store, trim, and glaze in the Community Clay Studio. Members will store, trim, and glaze in the Member's Studio (or glaze in the Community Clay Studio). Contact Jamie for your 10% membership discount. Stoneware clay, tools, open studio, bisque fire, glaze, and glaze fire included. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty and please bring your own towel or apron. This class serves as a prerequisite for our Member's Studio. Please provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel. Refunds will be limited to $30 per person unless we can fill your seat.
