Teen Clay Night Ages 13-17

Service Description

Teens 13-17 will develop skills on the potter's wheel and handbuilding to make their own cups, bowls, pots, trinket trays, figurines, or anything else imaginable! This small group class of up to 10 students will meet for 3 1/2 hours of wheel time, handbuilding, demonstrations, guided practice, independent practice, and clean-up. It is for all skill levels, especially beginners! We will cover the basics of handbuilding (pinch-pots, slabs, coils, score/slip/attach) and throwing on the potter's wheel, including centering, opening, pulling, and shaping. Open Studio hours will be available for all greenware work within 7 days (carving, stamping, polishing clay projects). GLAZING Return in 3-4 weeks to learn glazing. Sign up for a glazing lesson during one of our GLAZE DAYS FOR NEW STUDENTS posted on the website. Select from our collection of over 100 glazes! This package includes clay, tools, instruction, open studio hours, glaze, bisque fire, and glaze fire. All clay is stoneware, which is safe for food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Most glazes are food safe, but a small selection are not, so guidance will be provided. NOTE: Students must be able to follow directions well and work/clean up independently. NOTE: Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty and please bring your own standard-size towel. Snacks and water bottles are encouraged. Refunds or credits for cancellations within less than 24 hours will not be issued (this includes gift certificate value). Refunds or credits for cancellations within 3 days of the event will be limited to $30 per person unless we can fill your seat (this includes gift certificate value). Due to limited schedule availability, missed sessions will not be rescheduled, refunded, or credited.
