PLEASE DISREGARD DECEMBER DATE Sign up here to receive email notifications when we add more Sgraffito Workshops! WHAT IS SGRAFFITO? Sgraffito is a decorative technique used in art where a surface layer—colored slip or underglaze—is applied over a clay body and then scratched or carved through to reveal the clay beneath. This creates contrasting designs, textures, and intricate patterns. The word comes from the Italian "sgraffiare", meaning "to scratch." JOIN US FOR 2 HOURS IN THE STUDIO! Join us in the studio to create something you'll love... a stoneware sgraffito tumbler! We will provide instructions, demonstrations, and all the guidance needed to create a one-of-a-kind work of art. You'll have absolute creative freedom to customize your sgraffito tumbler any way you can imagine! Tumblers are premade on the potter's wheel right here in our studio and ready for your creative touch! Dimensions vary around approximately 3" wide x 4" tall with no handles. Choose from a selection of over 20 underglaze colors. Bring your own printed design, free-hand your carving, or choose from our selection of over 100 stencils. Open Studio time is available within 1 week for anyone needing more time. These projects will be take-home ready within 3-4 weeks (projects must dry slowly, get bisque-fired, clear-coated, then glaze-fired). Clay, tools, and glaze included. All clay is stoneware, which is safe for food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven.
